Dimensions & care

Full dimensions are listed at the end of the Overview on every product page, taken from the finished piece rather than from a drawing. If a measurement matters for your space, write to us and we will check the actual item before it ships.

Care instructions ship with the product and are printed on the care label where there is one. Solid wood wants a damp cloth and an occasional oil; stone should be sealed once a year; wool and linen prefer a cold wash and drying flat.

Shipping & returns

Shipping is free on every order, with tracking, anywhere in the United States. We do not ship outside the US, so there are no customs charges or import duties on anything you order.

Orders are processed in 1 to 2 business days and most orders placed before 2pm ET leave the same day. Typical delivery is 7 to 15 days from dispatch. Tracking arrives by email as soon as the carrier scans the parcel.

Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging, with all fixings included. We cover the return shipping when an item is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered. If a piece arrives damaged, send a photo of the item and the outer box within 7 days and we ship a replacement without asking for the broken one back.

Furniture

A scooped oak seat that needs no cushion

Solid oak, sanded smooth, on a slim powder coated frame at 26 inches.

Oak Counter Stool

SEAT

The scoop is the whole argument

A flat wooden seat concentrates your weight on two points and you feel it inside ten minutes. Scooping spreads the load, which is why this is comfortable bare and does not need a pad bought separately.

HEIGHT

26 inches is counter, not bar

That suits a standard 36 inch kitchen counter with clearance for your knees underneath. A 30 inch bar needs a taller stool, so measure from the floor to the underside before ordering.

FRAME

Slim on purpose

A bulky base is what makes a row of stools look heavy under an island. The powder coated steel here is thin enough to read as a line rather than a block.

The scoop is why I can sit through a call

I bought a flat-seat oak stool last year and gave up on it in a week. The scooped seat here is the difference, no cushion required and no numbness after an hour. At 26 inches it sits correctly under our 36 inch counter.

Floor protectors were already fitted

Small thing, but I did not have to hunt for felt pads before putting it on our tile. The slim black frame more or less disappears under the counter overhang, which was the point for us. Sanding on the oak seat is genuinely smooth, no rough spots on the underside edges.

Questions we get about this kind of piece

All FAQs
Does it arrive assembled?

Part-assembled. The hardware and an Allen key are in the box and most pieces are four to eight bolts. The number of steps and the rough assembly time are on each product page.

Will it fit through my door?

Check the boxed dimensions in The details before you order, not just the assembled ones — a doorway or a stair turn is what usually catches people out, and larger tops ship as a single slab. If a measurement is borderline, write to us and we will measure the actual item before it leaves.

Does the carrier bring it inside?

Larger pieces are delivered to your door. Carriers do not carry items upstairs, into a particular room, unpack them or take the packaging away, so line up a second pair of hands for anything heavy.

Is it solid wood or veneer?

Where a page says solid oak or solid acacia, it is solid through the whole thickness, not veneer over board. Grain and tone vary from piece to piece because the wood does; we do not photograph a stained sample and ship something else.
