Dimensions & care

Full dimensions are listed at the end of the Overview on every product page, taken from the finished piece rather than from a drawing. If a measurement matters for your space, write to us and we will check the actual item before it ships.

Care instructions ship with the product and are printed on the care label where there is one. Solid wood wants a damp cloth and an occasional oil; stone should be sealed once a year; wool and linen prefer a cold wash and drying flat.

Shipping & returns

Shipping is free on every order, with tracking, anywhere in the United States. We do not ship outside the US, so there are no customs charges or import duties on anything you order.

Orders are processed in 1 to 2 business days and most orders placed before 2pm ET leave the same day. Typical delivery is 7 to 15 days from dispatch. Tracking arrives by email as soon as the carrier scans the parcel.

Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging, with all fixings included. We cover the return shipping when an item is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered. If a piece arrives damaged, send a photo of the item and the outer box within 7 days and we ship a replacement without asking for the broken one back.

Storage

Vegetable-tanned, so it darkens instead of cracking

Saddle leather on brass rivets, holding about twenty magazines — and folding flat on the day it stops earning its place.

Leather Magazine Holder

Vegetable-tanned

Darkens, does not crack

Brass rivets

No glue line to fail

Folds flat

Store it, do not bin it

About 20 magazines

Or a stack of large books

Leather

The tannage is the whole story

Chrome-tanned leather splits along a fold within a couple of years. Vegetable-tanned hide deepens in colour and takes a patina at the stress points instead of failing there.

Hardware

Riveted, not glued

Brass rivets hold the sides, so there is no adhesive seam to creep apart under the weight of twenty magazines through a hot summer.

Afterwards

It packs away

At 14 by 10 by 11 inches it holds a proper stack, and it lies flat when you want the floor back — which is more than most magazine racks offer once the phase passes.

Already darkening at the folds

Vegetable tanned means it ages rather than cracks, and about four months in the colour has deepened at the corners exactly the way good leather is supposed to.

Brass rivets, no glue seam to fail

The sides are riveted rather than bonded, so nothing is going to creep apart under a full load. I have around twenty magazines in it and it holds its shape. It does sit a little lower than I pictured at eleven inches.

Questions we get about this kind of piece

All FAQs
How much weight will a shelf hold?

The load rating is printed on each product page. It assumes the fixings have gone into studs, or into the correct anchor for your wall — in practice it is almost always the wall that gives way rather than the shelf, so find the studs before you drill.

Are the wall fixings included?

Yes, with standard drywall anchors. Plaster, brick and tile each need a different fixing and we do not supply those, because the wrong anchor in masonry is worse than none.

Are the dimensions internal or external?

External, unless the page says otherwise. Where a piece is built to hold something specific — files, records, shoes — we list the internal measurement as well so you can check before ordering.

How do I clean a woven basket?

A damp cloth and then air drying. Do not soak or submerge a woven piece: the fibres swell, and as they dry the weave loosens and never fully tightens back.
