Dimensions & care

Full dimensions are listed at the end of the Overview on every product page, taken from the finished piece rather than from a drawing. If a measurement matters for your space, write to us and we will check the actual item before it ships.

Care instructions ship with the product and are printed on the care label where there is one. Solid wood wants a damp cloth and an occasional oil; stone should be sealed once a year; wool and linen prefer a cold wash and drying flat.

Shipping & returns

Shipping is free on every order, with tracking, anywhere in the United States. We do not ship outside the US, so there are no customs charges or import duties on anything you order.

Orders are processed in 1 to 2 business days and most orders placed before 2pm ET leave the same day. Typical delivery is 7 to 15 days from dispatch. Tracking arrives by email as soon as the carrier scans the parcel.

Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging, with all fixings included. We cover the return shipping when an item is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered. If a piece arrives damaged, send a photo of the item and the outer box within 7 days and we ship a replacement without asking for the broken one back.

Outdoor & Garden

Three unglazed pots that let the roots breathe

Porous clay pulls water out of the soil instead of holding it against the roots — which is why terracotta is what nurseries reach for with the plants people tend to overwater.

Terracotta Planters - 3

Unglazed clay

Breathes through the wall

Drainage hole

Drilled into every base

Three sizes

10, 8 and 6 in across

Saucers included

One matched to each pot

WHY UNGLAZED

The pot does half the watering for you

A glaze seals the clay, so water sits exactly where you poured it. Unglazed terracotta wicks moisture through the wall and evaporates it off the outside. That is what keeps a snake plant or a succulent from standing wet. You will water a little more often; the roots stop rotting.

THE WHITE BLOOM

That chalky film is mineral, not mould

After a few months pale streaks appear on the outside of the pot. Those are salts from tap water and feed coming through the clay — direct evidence the wall is breathing. Take them off with a dry brush if you want, or leave them. Most people end up preferring the patina.

THE SET

Sized to step, not to nest

10, 8 and 6 inches across, so the three group on a sill or a stair without reading as a matched set of bowls. Each arrives with its own saucer, sized to it rather than one size for all three.

Unglazed, which matters

Porous terracotta actually breathes, so I have stopped drowning my plants. Saucers included and they match. Three sizes covers most of what I was repotting.

The white bloom won me over

I moved three chronically overwatered succulents into these and not one has gone mushy since. The chalky streaks showed up on the 10 inch pot around week six and I left them alone; the clay looks better with them than it did clean.

Great pots, shallow saucers

The 10 and 8 inch sit on a south window and the soil genuinely dries out between waterings now, which is what I wanted from unglazed clay. Only note is the saucers are quite shallow, so I water in the sink and carry them back.

Questions we get about this kind of piece

All FAQs
Can it stay outside all year?

Powder-coated metal and teak handle a full season outdoors without complaint. Through winter, cover the piece or bring the lighter items and cushions inside. What each piece is rated for is on its page.

Will teak go grey?

Yes, and that is normal. Untreated teak weathers to a silver-grey within a season without losing any strength — the colour change is on the surface. Oil it once or twice a season if you would rather keep the honey tone.

Are the outdoor lights safe in rain?

Anything listed for outdoor use is rated for it and the rating is on the page. Solar and battery pieces need no wiring at all; anything that plugs in needs an outdoor-rated socket, not an extension run out through a window.

What happens to cushions if they get wet?

The fabric is water-resistant, not waterproof. A shower runs off and they dry quickly, but a cushion put away damp will mildew from the inside out. Stand them on edge to dry before storing.
