Dimensions & care

Full dimensions are listed at the end of the Overview on every product page, taken from the finished piece rather than from a drawing. If a measurement matters for your space, write to us and we will check the actual item before it ships.

Care instructions ship with the product and are printed on the care label where there is one. Solid wood wants a damp cloth and an occasional oil; stone should be sealed once a year; wool and linen prefer a cold wash and drying flat.

Shipping & returns

Shipping is free on every order, with tracking, anywhere in the United States. We do not ship outside the US, so there are no customs charges or import duties on anything you order.

Orders are processed in 1 to 2 business days and most orders placed before 2pm ET leave the same day. Typical delivery is 7 to 15 days from dispatch. Tracking arrives by email as soon as the carrier scans the parcel.

Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging, with all fixings included. We cover the return shipping when an item is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered. If a piece arrives damaged, send a photo of the item and the outer box within 7 days and we ship a replacement without asking for the broken one back.

Outdoor & Garden

A twelve-inch spout that reaches the back of the shelf

Powder coated steel in matte olive with a brass spout, holding a gallon and a half, balanced so the water stays over your hand instead of hanging off the far end of it.

Steel Watering Can

12 in brass spout

Clears a crowded shelf

1.5 gallons

A room of plants per fill

Balanced full

Weight stays over the handle

Powder coated

Baked on, not sprayed

BALANCE

Where the water sits when the can is full

A cheap can puts the reservoir forward of the handle, so a full gallon and a half torques your wrist the second you lift it. This one carries its mass behind the pour line. You do not notice on the first plant. You notice on the fifth.

THE SPOUT

Long, narrow, and unlacquered brass

Twelve inches tapering to a narrow mouth, so the stream goes into the soil rather than across the leaves and down the wall behind. The brass is not lacquered, which means it will darken through the first season into a warm patina. That is the material doing what brass does.

FINISH

Powder coat over steel, not paint over tin

The olive is baked on rather than sprayed, which is why it survives being knocked against a concrete step or dragged out from under a bench. Empty it and stand it upside down and the steel inside stays dry between waterings.

The spout reaches the back row

My plant shelf is three pots deep and the twelve inch brass spout gets to the back without me moving anything forward. The brass has gone a shade darker in a month, which I was told to expect.

Does not wreck my wrist

A full gallon and a half and the weight sits over the handle instead of dragging forward off the spout. I do about thirty plants in one round and that turns out to matter far more than I assumed.

Questions we get about this kind of piece

All FAQs
Can it stay outside all year?

Powder-coated metal and teak handle a full season outdoors without complaint. Through winter, cover the piece or bring the lighter items and cushions inside. What each piece is rated for is on its page.

Will teak go grey?

Yes, and that is normal. Untreated teak weathers to a silver-grey within a season without losing any strength — the colour change is on the surface. Oil it once or twice a season if you would rather keep the honey tone.

Are the outdoor lights safe in rain?

Anything listed for outdoor use is rated for it and the rating is on the page. Solar and battery pieces need no wiring at all; anything that plugs in needs an outdoor-rated socket, not an extension run out through a window.

What happens to cushions if they get wet?

The fabric is water-resistant, not waterproof. A shower runs off and they dry quickly, but a cushion put away damp will mildew from the inside out. Stand them on edge to dry before storing.
