Dimensions & care

Full dimensions are listed at the end of the Overview on every product page, taken from the finished piece rather than from a drawing. If a measurement matters for your space, write to us and we will check the actual item before it ships.

Care instructions ship with the product and are printed on the care label where there is one. Solid wood wants a damp cloth and an occasional oil; stone should be sealed once a year; wool and linen prefer a cold wash and drying flat.

Shipping & returns

Shipping is free on every order, with tracking, anywhere in the United States. We do not ship outside the US, so there are no customs charges or import duties on anything you order.

Orders are processed in 1 to 2 business days and most orders placed before 2pm ET leave the same day. Typical delivery is 7 to 15 days from dispatch. Tracking arrives by email as soon as the carrier scans the parcel.

Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging, with all fixings included. We cover the return shipping when an item is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered. If a piece arrives damaged, send a photo of the item and the outer box within 7 days and we ship a replacement without asking for the broken one back.

Textiles & Rugs

The strip that makes a bed look finished

Muted olive washed linen, 20 by 108 inches, with the edges left raw on purpose.

Linen Bed Scarf

108 in long

Hangs even on both sides

Washed linen

Soft and slightly rumpled

Raw frayed edges

Intentional, and stable

Machine wash

Cold wash, low tumble

LENGTH

One hundred and eight inches

That gives an equal drop on both sides of a queen and still works across a king. Most bed scarves are cut short and hang lopsided, which defeats the only job they have.

EDGES

Raw, and they stay put

The fray is set at the mill rather than left to run on. Three or four washes in, the edge is still where it started, so it reads as deliberate instead of worn out.

COLOUR

Muted olive, not sage

Greyed down enough to sit against white bedding without becoming a colour statement, and warm enough to stop a plain white bed looking clinical.

108 inches hangs even on both sides

Across a queen there is an equal drop left and right, which is the entire job and most bed scarves come up short. The muted olive is greyed down enough to work with white bedding. It does the thing where the bed suddenly looks finished.

The raw edges are deliberate and they held

I was wary of frayed edges surviving a wash but they have stopped exactly where they were meant to after three cycles. Twenty inches wide is enough to fold back over the duvet without disappearing. Washed linen, so it comes out soft and slightly rumpled, which suits it.

Questions we get about this kind of piece

All FAQs
Will a new rug shed?

A wool rug sheds for the first two to four weeks — that is loose fibre working out of the weave, not the rug coming apart. Vacuum with the beater bar off and it settles down on its own.

How do I wash it?

Linen and cotton take a cold machine wash and dry flat or on low heat. Wool prefers spot cleaning and one professional clean a year. The care label is sewn into the item and the full instructions sit under Dimensions & care.

Do I need a rug pad?

On a hard floor, yes. It stops the rug creeping underfoot, adds a lot of comfort and keeps the backing from grinding against the boards. On carpet it is optional.

Are the colours true to the photos?

We photograph on neutral backgrounds without boosting saturation, but screens differ and natural fibres take dye unevenly by nature — that variation is part of the material, not a fault. If the shade is wrong for your room you have 30 days.
