Knotted by hand, not tufted and glued — which is the difference between a rug that lasts a decade and one that sheds its backing.
The construction
Every knot is tied around the warp by hand, so the pile is anchored into the structure of the rug rather than stuck to a backing. A tufted rug sheds its latex and delaminates in a few years. This one wears down evenly over decades instead.
The size
Nine by twelve is the size that lets all four legs of the sofa and the chairs sit on the rug, which is what stops a living room reading as furniture floating on a floor. Measure your seating group before you commit — this is a large piece.
First few weeks
New wool releases loose fibre from the loom for two to four weeks. Vacuum without a beater bar, twice a week at first. After that it settles and you are done. Rotate it twice a year so it wears and fades evenly.

This is finished stock from the same production runs that supply larger homeware retailers — bought as a lot, priced without the showroom margin. Same piece, same materials. When the lot is gone we cannot always reorder.

Care instructions ship with the product and are printed on the care label where there is one. Solid wood wants a damp cloth and an occasional oil; stone should be sealed once a year; wool and linen prefer a cold wash and drying flat.
Shipping is free on every order, with tracking, anywhere in the United States. We do not ship outside the US, so there are no customs charges or import duties on anything you order.
Orders are processed in 1 to 2 business days and most orders placed before 2pm ET leave the same day. Typical delivery is 7 to 15 days from dispatch. Tracking arrives by email as soon as the carrier scans the parcel.
Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging, with all fixings included. We cover the return shipping when an item is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered. If a piece arrives damaged, send a photo of the item and the outer box within 7 days and we ship a replacement without asking for the broken one back.

It shed a great deal at first and I did briefly wonder what I had bought. The listing warns you and it was right — it stopped dead around week three. Get an underlay, it is heavy enough to need one.
