Dimensions & care

Full dimensions are listed at the end of the Overview on every product page, taken from the finished piece rather than from a drawing. If a measurement matters for your space, write to us and we will check the actual item before it ships.

Care instructions ship with the product and are printed on the care label where there is one. Solid wood wants a damp cloth and an occasional oil; stone should be sealed once a year; wool and linen prefer a cold wash and drying flat.

Shipping & returns

Shipping is free on every order, with tracking, anywhere in the United States. We do not ship outside the US, so there are no customs charges or import duties on anything you order.

Orders are processed in 1 to 2 business days and most orders placed before 2pm ET leave the same day. Typical delivery is 7 to 15 days from dispatch. Tracking arrives by email as soon as the carrier scans the parcel.

Thirty days to return anything unused and in its original packaging, with all fixings included. We cover the return shipping when an item is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered. If a piece arrives damaged, send a photo of the item and the outer box within 7 days and we ship a replacement without asking for the broken one back.

Outdoor & Garden

Folds to three inches, so a balcony can still seat two

Olive powder coated frames with acacia slat seats, rated to 250 pounds each, closing down to about three inches — roughly the gap behind an open door.

Folding Bistro Chairs - 2

Rated per chair

Acacia slats

Warm wood over steel

Seat at 17 in

Back stands 32 in

THE FOLD

Three inches is the number that matters

Plenty of chairs fold. Most close to six or seven inches, so a pair still occupies a corner of the balcony you were trying to free up. At about three inches these stack flat behind a door or slide under a bed — which is what makes them work in a flat rather than a garden.

MIXED MATERIALS

Steel frame, acacia seat

The load goes through powder coated steel, so the frame survives rain and being folded away damp. The seat is acacia, a dense hardwood that stays sittable in full sun where bare metal turns into a hotplate by two in the afternoon.

SITTING ON THEM

Proper dining height, rated to 250 lb

Seat at 17 inches, back at 32. That pulls up to a bistro table correctly instead of leaving you low with your elbows at chin height, which is the usual compromise with folding chairs. Wipe the slats after rain and the wood stays sound.

Three inches folded is not marketing

I measured them. Both chairs stack behind the balcony door and it still closes properly. The 17 inch seat lines up with my little bistro table instead of leaving me sitting low.

Acacia stays cool, the frame less so

The slat seat is comfortable in direct sun, which was my main worry with anything metal. The olive powder coat on the frame does get warm by midday though. Folding them away damp after rain has caused no problems so far.

Questions we get about this kind of piece

All FAQs
Can it stay outside all year?

Powder-coated metal and teak handle a full season outdoors without complaint. Through winter, cover the piece or bring the lighter items and cushions inside. What each piece is rated for is on its page.

Will teak go grey?

Yes, and that is normal. Untreated teak weathers to a silver-grey within a season without losing any strength — the colour change is on the surface. Oil it once or twice a season if you would rather keep the honey tone.

Are the outdoor lights safe in rain?

Anything listed for outdoor use is rated for it and the rating is on the page. Solar and battery pieces need no wiring at all; anything that plugs in needs an outdoor-rated socket, not an extension run out through a window.

What happens to cushions if they get wet?

The fabric is water-resistant, not waterproof. A shower runs off and they dry quickly, but a cushion put away damp will mildew from the inside out. Stand them on edge to dry before storing.
